Camp Whitsett Summary

Posted on Jul 18 2021 - 8:40pm

Congratulations to all scouts who attended Camp Whitsett this week and endured temperatures reaching 108 degrees.  Scouts earned 50+ merit badges and partials on a few.  Individual and patrol awards were earned.  Conservation projects were completed.  Twelve scouts completed the Sentinel Peak hike.  Nine scouts participated in the early morning Beaver swim.  Troop 619 was 1 of 4 troops to earn the TROOP AWARD!  Spirits were high throughout the week, despite the heat.  Scouts worked together and supported one another.  Youth leaders stood out and stepped up to make this camp one to remember.  We are proud of each and every one of our scouts!

Parents should receive a camp overview via email by weeks end outlining merit badges earned.  Partials were given in a few areas that will require work at home to complete some merit badges.  This will be detailed in the report.

Thank you Benjamin (SPL) and Dylan (ASPL) for leading a great camp experience and setting an example for our younger scouts.

Thank You Stanley for your leadership and for also completing many trainings at camp including the 16 hour wilderness first aid, COPE and hiking Sentinel Peak!

Thank You Peter for helping keep the scouts on track and hiking Sentinel Peak on two consecutive days!

Thank You Yvonne for all the pictures, being the banker and giving much needed support and encouragement to our scouts throughout the week.

Thank You Julie for organizing this campout.

It was great to see our scouts working together seamlessly after the disruption of the past year.  Great Job Troop 619!

Camperships for Summer 2020

Posted on Apr 5 2020 - 4:23pm

Recent events due to COVID-19 may have changed some families work status.  Our Committee collaborated last week and a majority approved to roll out our Troop Campership Program this Spring (Instead of Fall) to assist families who may need it at this time.  We want to ensure that the boys are still able to go, camp is such a wonderful growth opportunity for our boys. They get to learn many new skills and have fun also.  If recent events have changed your situation, please feel free to fill out the application (also under files on Troop website) and send them to Kelly Macdonald our Committee Chairman. Kelly's email address is on the application.
